NFL players should not be considered as super men

When we are talking about NFL players, we always talk in precondition that they should be perfect people since they are paid so much to play in the league. But the fact is, they are after all common human beings who make mistakes and have limites on some aspects.

Ok, if you have to argue that they are at least not as common as us average people. That just means that they should pay more attention to what they do. But as no one can avoid mistake, the same to the players. They have the talents of playing and become professional players, but a lot of us common people also have talent and professinals in some field. Talent will not make anyone immune to being human, and we all will be subject to the same human temptations.

As long as you can find an excuse for any of your mistakes, it is not necessay to be too strict with those NFL players who appear in public a bit more often than others.

Brian Westbrook's role could be further diminished this season

It is reported that Eagles RB Westbrook will be unable to take part in the rest of the Eagles’ offseason workouts. We will not see him on field until the start of the season or even later. Because he got an injury on ankle and needs a minor surgery.

Westbrook always seems to be battling a nagging injury from training camp through the end of the season. This time the ankle injury just will cause him to be absent from the season. The Eagles has drafted LeSean McCoy in the second round, so if Westbrook still can not keep healthy for long time, people will recosider his role the the team.

Texans finds a new solution to economic troubles

As the new NFL allows, the Texans found a new source of revenue in selling sponsorships on their practice jerseys.

The Texans is considering put a small sponsorship patch on each of their practic jerseys. The patch will be on the left shoulder of a jersey and no longer than 3.5-4.5 inches. If you want to get a visual effect of adding the patch to jersey, you can just pay attention to the Texans practices this week--they have already affixed the bull head logo on the players' uniform, in the same area where the patches will be on practice jerseys.

The Texans is currently discussing with several sponsors about this. If everything goes well, we may expect to see practice jerseys in late July.

Can Thomas Jones do as good job as he did last year?

First I would like to look back in what Thomas Jones did in 2008. 1,500 total yards of offense and 15 touchdowns, with a solid offense and good defense.

What happened after that?

Thomas was looking forward to a new contract. But it seemed not possible. A new rookie Shonn Greene was just joined the Jets, and was considered very qualified. But new deal or not, Thomas just participated in the Jets OTAs last Wednesday. I think he needs to do better job if he wants a new contract. Only good performance will add his value and make better contract more possible.

Rookie WR Harvin began to play at center of stage

On last Saturday's morning practice, the newly selected WR Percy Harvin was practising new defense system with teammates. As a rookied WR, he performed rather well and was considered as a talented player.

The Star-Tribune the Vikings are currently practising the Wildcat offense, which the Dolphins used successfully last season, and Harvin lined up at quarterback.

It is time for Harvin to prove his talent now. Hope that he will perform as well as we expect for this season.

Jim Schwartz brings hope to Lions

He was formerly Tennessee Titans' defensive coordinator. Titan is the best team in the regular season. And now he has chosen to become coach of the Lions, the worst team in one NFL season. Good news for the Lions, great challenge for Schwartz.

Regardless of people's doubts, Jim Schwartz began his new job and a new, positive style has been brought to the team. It is not reasonable to consider that he will bring the team abruptly to the best, but hopefully, under his coaching, the Lions will have a much better season than last year.

Jackson is considered as hard-working

Vikings coach Brad Childress praised the team's QB Tarvaris Jackson highly about his work ethic on Friday. It seemed like a defense after Pat Williams urged Jackson to work harder in a recent radio interview.

Friday was the first day of the team's minicamp. While facing the reporters, Childress made the comments before anyquestion was asked. He told that Tarvaris is one of the hardest-working players on the Vikings' roster. As of the relationship between Pat and Jackson, he considered that the media might misunderstand the tone of Pat's earlier comments about Jackson's work ethic. He said in his opinion the two guys are friendly to each other.

Vick's being released from prison arose debate

He is an Atlanta Falcons quarterback. He was accused of financing dog fighting operation, which sent him to Leavenworth Federal Prison. After serving 19 months for the charges, he returned to Hampton.

What was awaiting him were preparation of national and local media as well as NFL Network. No protesters was seen on the scene. Too quiet.But that did not mean that the debate about his hehavior ended. His hope of continuing the quietness in life would be in vain. While supporters declared that Vick had served his time, lost everything and deserved a new life, objectors had not recovered from the horrors at the details of the dog fighting operation Vick financed.

It is for sure that both sides will continue the debate over a rather long time.

What can we expect from Davis?

He has been called "sleeper" during his NFL career. Every time when it was said that he had the potential to make an final impact on the game, he disapponted us. But this time it seems that things will be different. I hope so.

It was recently reported by the San Francisco Chronicle that Davis is optimistic for the 2009 season. He is confident that he will be able to catch every opportunity to get balls with Jimmy Raye being a new offensive coordinator. And his performance in offseason practices also seemed great.

Maybe we can expect a different result of our waiting for Davis potential. In order not to be too disappointed, we'd better consider him as a No. 2 tight end.

Bly contracted with 49ers

In order to get one guy to replace the injured Walt Harris quickly, the 49ers signed Bly to a one-year contract on Thursday. Bly was among the mystery cornerbacks who visited the San Francisco 49ers earlier.

The 49ers' GM Scot McCloughan told that Bly, a Pro Bowler is the best one to fill the void left by Pro Bowl caliber player Walt Harris after he got hurt this week. He said that tremendous productivity and proven durability are the two quality they saw on the two Pro Bowler, which are needed to compete at a high level in the NFL. Bly will have to started his playing in the 49ers soon so that he can get acquainted quickly with new system, new coaches and new teammates.

Tarell Brown and Shawntae Spencer will also be competitors for the starting spot opposite Nate Clements.
