After six-time All-Pro left tackle Walter Jones was placed on the Seattle Seahawks injured reserve list Wednesday, another Seahawks star had to go on the season-ending list- three-time Pro Bowl middle linebacker Lofa Tatupu had surgery to repair a torn left pectoral muscle and will not be available to play any game in his Seahawks jersey for the season.
Tatupu, 26-year-old, did not miss a game in his first 3 1/2 seasons in the NFL. Concussions, swollen knee, strained groin, broken thumb and strained hamstring, none of these injuries had ever prevented him from playing, but this Sunday’s game will be his third absence in less than 12 months.
He got the injury in the first half of Seattle’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 18, being hit high by teammate Deon Grant when both of them were trying to make a tackle. The team has planned to start undrafted free agent David Hawthorne this Sunday and use the roster spot vacated by Tatupu to add cornerback Marcus Trufant off the PUP list. And not all news is bad news, at least starting quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is back. Hasselbeck practiced Thursday after missing the previous two days of workouts and Coach Jim Mora has confirmed that he will start against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

Seahawks QB Hasselbeck felt fine with his rib
The Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck went down for several minutes with 26 seconds left before halftime when linebacker 49ers Patrick Willis stuck him in the back. He had to be taken away immediately from Willis and sent to hospital for X-rays and a CT scan.
The fans could ease off for the X-rays were negative while the CT scan was inconclusive and Hasselbeck was able to rejoin his teammates for the 2-hour flight home shortly after the 23-10 loss to the 49ers.
“It is a rib bruise at this point,” Seattle Coach Jim Mora said. “He’s doing much better … he’s feeling much more comfortable. We believe at this point, and it’s very preliminary, that he’s going to be OK.”
Hasselbeck gave fans more confidence by posing on his Twitter page, saying the same as Mora told reporters. No one had given a estimated time of when he would wear back his seahawks jersey and be back with the team.
