QB Quinn was traded by the Browns to the Broncos

After the Cleveland Browns signed free agent quarterback Jake Delhomme, the other star quarterback Brady Quinn just unsurprisingly became expendable to the Browns, but it still surprised quite a few people when the Browns traded him to the Denver Broncos for fullback Peyton Hillis, a 2011 sixth-round draft pick and a conditional pick in 2012.

The trade happened just one day after the deal with Delhomme was done. Since putting on Browns jersey in 2007 as the 22end pick in the first round, Quinn has been embraced by Browns fans as the quarterback of the future, but he never succeed in proving that to the Browns. Eventually winning the starting job, however, he was benched after 2 1/2 games and Derek Anderson took over the starting job. He got the job back later in the season but was still hindered by inaccuracy, completing only 53 percent of his passes for 1,339 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions.

The Browns gave up both Anderson and Quinn this season by releasing Anderson and trading Quinn to another team. Now with backup quarterback Seneca Wallace after a trade with the Seattle Seahawks and Delhomme, the Browns could just feel happy that they have done a great deal, no matter how the Broncos will use Quinn.

Browns starting QB not decided yet

Browns coach Eric Mangini probably would like to see Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn continue competing for the starting job till the last minute. By so far, he has not announced who would be the starting quarterback for Saturday’s home exhibition opener.

It has been guessed that Anderson would likely be the starter in the game against the Detroit Lions, because Quinn started last week’s game at Green Bay. However, Mangini said he wanted to see more of their performance and would not announce the starter until the end of the practice week.

It seemed that Mangini was very careful in making the right decision on the starting quarterback. He has balanced the reps between Anderson and Quinn during training camp, but has not been ready to name the starter for the regular season opener against Minnesota on Sept. 13.
