Having been NFL opponents’ pain in the neck for 12 years, the Indianapolis Colts star quarterback Peyton Manning now has to deal with the pain in his own neck- after having a surgery in Chicago to fix a pinched nerve, Manning is now in recovery from it and is expected to take part in offseason workouts in time and wear back Colts jersey for 2010 season.
“This condition has existed intermittently for the past four years, but at no time did it interfere with his training, practice or playing regimen,” the Colts said. “While it never has affected Peyton’s activity on or off the field, the Colts’ medical staff, after post-playoff examination, thought it best to resolve the situation now.”
Turning 34 year old in 2010, Manning has had two offseason surgeries in three years. The last one was in July 2008 when he had surgery twice on his left knee because of an infected bursa sac. Because of the surgery, Manning missed all of that year’s training camp and lost 10 pounds during his recuperation.
However, Manning still managed his record of 210 consecutive starts, including the playoffs and kept setting records for the Colts. With Manning being the starting quarterback, the Colts have made a league-high eight straight playoff appearances, reached the Super Bowl twice, winning it all in 2006, and set NFL records with seven straight 12-win seasons, 23 consecutive wins and 115 wins in a decade.

Colts QB Painter is eager to prove himself
Leading the Indianapolis to the team’s first loss of the season as a starting quarterback for the first time of his NFL career, Curtis Painter is surely facing huge pressure. Fans are complaining about the team’s decision to sit their starters and expecting to see No. 18 Peyton Manning jersey in starting lineup again, but the rookie knows he needs the chance to prove he can be better than expected.
Losing a fumble that the New York Jets returned for a touchdown, throwing an interception and struggling to get first downs, The Indiana native was greeted with boos and walked off the field to thousands of empty seats. It was bad enough start for a career, but Painter can’t wait to get his second chance this week at Buffalo.
“It was a great experience to get out there, but it didn’t go the way we wanted,” he said. “But I’m excited. Hopefully, I’ll get that opportunity (to play) again this week.”
And he is receiving support from his teammates, who have attempted to keep Painter’s confidence up during the game and throughout this week. Wide receiver Reggie Wayne and center Jeff Saturday publicly offered support for Painter following the loss, and Manning went a step further by referencing the early struggles in his career.
And Painter promises that he won’t be gun-shy this week but ready to produce some new memories.

NFL fined Titans DE Vanden Bosch for hittig Colts QB Manning
On Thursday, the Tennessee Titans defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch was informed by the NFL that he will have to pay a fine of $5,000 for hit on Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning.
But it seemed Vanden Bosch and the Titans would like to refuse to accept the punishment. As to what happened in Sunday's 31-9 loss to the Colts, Titans Coach Jeff Fisher, co-chairman of the competition committee said earlier this week that rule states roughing the passer should not be called if a player is blocked into a quarterback.
And the defensive end said Thursday that he knows what the rule is on hot hitting quarterback arround the knees. But the actual situation was that he was blocked and was going down during Sunday night's, therefore he had to grab Manning's legs to keep balance, indicating that it is not fair to fine him for what he did to the quarterback wearing opponent team's NFL jersey.
